        "原文はGwario Bai、その英訳は“Recumbent Dragon Tree”とある。「臥竜梅（がりゆうばい）」（「がりょうばい」とも）は、本庄龜井戸の清香庵にある特別な梅の木のことである。この梅の木は、地面に這うように広がり、形が竜が蟠っているように見えるため「臥竜梅」と呼ばれている。花は重弁で潔白な色をしており、非常に強い香りを放つ。その枝は地中を這い、どの部分が本幹か区別がつかないほど複雑に絡み合っているのがこの木の特徴である。なお、この梅に関する詳細は『江戸名所図会』に記載されている。"
